Prologue:

Kphzzzpt:
1. n.  The sound made when an author returns to his work after a long break.
2. n. The sound made when something comes into, or ceases, to exist. It is described as a combination of static and exploding.
With a faint Kphzzzpt, a large brown building appeared where the Pottery Barn used to be. Within a minute it had always been there, leaving only two people the wiser. The first was a Yuppie who would spend the next year wondering where he bought his favorite Persian floor tapestry. The second was a mountain lion.

Episode 2: A Lion in the Chocolate Factory Empty Episode 2: Choice 1

You wake up before the alarm to the sound of a running shower. 6.15; too late to bother sleeping anymore. When the sounds downstairs cease, you roll from the bed into the master bath, shower, shave, brush your teeth and otherwise dress yourself for work: Pants, Shirt, Double-Windsor, Suit.
Downstairs smells like Bacon. The wonderful warm sizzling sound mixes with half tone-deaf singing, “Bacon pancakes, makin’ bacon pancakes. Take some bacon and mix it in a pancake.” As you round the staircase into the kitchen, you see Kay dancing merrily in front of the stove. She smiles at you. “Don’t worry,” she says, “I found a 24 hour super-walmart.”
“Did you stay up all night?”
“I nap from time to time.” She offers you a pot filled with boiled eggs, “Want one?”
You fish an egg out and pull the shell off. She somehow managed to scramble it inside the shell, but Kay just winks at you when you ask. “Betsy and I are planning on heading into town to look for an apartment. Do you get the local paper?” She asks instead.
“Uh, yah. You can borrow it.”
“Sweet; Thanks.” Her bacon finishes, so she transfers it to a plate and heads up to the TV. Figuring she isn’t sharing, you fix your normal breakfast of Wheaties and milk. When finished you put the empty bowl in the sink and head to work, waving at Kay as you leave. She nods but doesn't look away from her cartoons.
Work is actually pretty good today. Jeff, the jerk in the cubicle next to you brings over a full copy of the report your manager lost, which at least means that you can resubmit that and get ahead on the next project.  You see Deborah in the cafeteria, and the two of you get to talking about Martial Arts. Even your manager seems to cut back on the incompetence for once. The day ends quickly and painlessly.
You pull up to your house as your guests seem to be pulling out. Betsy leans out the window of their rented truck and waves to you. “Brian! We were just heading out for dinner.” Kay shoots her a terrible look to make her stop, but Betsy will not be moved from her path. “Want to come along? My treat!”
What do you do?
REFUSE. Kay doesn't want you to go along.
ACCEPT. This is a good chance to actually catch up with Betsy.
