Andron grew up in a family of warriors. They put him through a lot of sword drills and training as a kid, but eventually realized he wasn't terribly interested in that sort of thing. So, upon his request, they sent him to (shudder) a magic school. He did fairly well - near the top of his class and everything - but the other elves picked on him (not physically, of course - they knew he was better with swords than they were - but socially). Eventually, a couple of them ganged up on him, claiming that a recent fire had been his doing… and while he succeeded in defending himself, things just weren't the same after that. Magic lost its magic.

So, tired of school and figuring that he could learn more on his own by piecing together the basics he'd learned, he dropped out and wandered around for a bit. He tried a lot of different things, including lawyering for a while (seemed interesting, and not so different from magic), but one day he ran into an old classmate… who had, in the meantime, learned a fair bit of magic. Though the classmate didn't recognize him (which was fortunate, because there probably would have been some taunts), Andron was reminded of his academy days, and his love of magic was rekindled.

Realizing that he'd forgotten his dream and would have to run to catch up, he pulled out the old spell books and hit the road - after all, there was plenty of lore out there, and nothing would help him remember it like using it.
